Ancestry.com

The library maintains a subscription to Ancestry.com-Library Edition for use by any library patron via the library’s public use desktop computer.  There is a users manual available at the library. There is no cost to use this service.

Computer use

There is a desktop computer for public use, with high speed fiber optic internet connection, and an associated printer.  It is located in a large, otherwise empty meeting room – a COVID safe space .  Patron computer use visits are limited to 20 minutes.

The library’s wireless internet service is a very strong, fast connection through state supported Maine School and Library Network.  The service is password protected and available 24 hours a day from the parking lot of the Coombs Building.  Come to the library to receive the passcode.  The town office also offers wireless internet connection, however it is not password protected.

Printing, scanning, copying

There is also a desktop computer for patron use, a printer, as well as a scanner and a photocopier.  Cost of printing: .25 for color or black and white copies.

Maine State Library

Every citizen of Maine is eligible to receive a card, free of charge, from the Maine State Library.  There are many services available with a State library card, including reference support and borrowing materials of all types from the State Library collection in Augusta.  Currently, many services at the State Library building are suspended due to unanticipated building safety issues and forced relocation of the collection to a new location in Augusta.

An online form to receive a State Library Card can be found HERE.
